In a bold move Bavaria is changing the language learning game

Bavaria Going Solo

New law states that when moving to Bavaria you'll have to learn Bavarian before tackling Standard German.

While everyone is distracted by the legalization of weed ☘️ which came into power today, Bavaria has secretly prepared a law that changes their official language to Bavarian. As a consequence, all administration, educational institutions and even churches will have to speak and respond exclusively in Bavarian. Even movies will be dubbed in Bavarian. One of the first movies available in Bavarian is the classic US comedy Full Metal Jacket.

This also means that German learners will only be able to study Bavarian at the local Volkshochschulen which are heavily subsidized by the government.

More information about this bold move and what it means for you if you are planning to move to Bavaria one day, you'll find in my newest blog post.

I personally love the Bavarian dialect and on the bright side, it might calm you to know that it is not only spoken in Bavaria but also in Austria.

In diesem Sinne have a lovely Easter Monday 🍳

Michael

PS: And to all Easter fans, here my newest song about THE most German tool and THE most German word ever created. I'm blown away by the level of precision the German language offers. It's very obvious to me that the German language is responsible for the amazing precision of German engineering.

If it is, I’ll announce it on time via the usual channels. Drop in to say hello or just listen in to other people's problems (OPP) if the time suits...
